Best Christmas present ever!

I've been painting since about 1998, traditionally a lot of 40k stuff but lately I've been doing a lot of work with Fantasy and the odd little side project here and there. I don't game as much as I'd like, and I don't paint as much as I'd like either... but I make up for this by purchasing way more models than I ought to!

I make an effort to try new things once in a while, and every once in a while I'll actually finish something. My current project is the Warriors of Chaos, it's an attempt at doing a 2,000pt army in under 6 weeks for the Fracas tournament here in Edmonton. A $100 ticket should give me motivation to get my army done on time, I would love some tournament trophies to add to my painting awards :-) After that, who knows what I'll be up to!

A finished model?! No friggin way!

Dec0004.jpg

In what's pretty typical for me, I broke away from the assembly line after a few hours and took a couple of models much further than the rest. One of them, a rank and file model, I fully completed to see how the color scheme would work out in the end. I'm pretty happy with the guy, especially when you consider the unit went from primer black to this stage in a single sitting.

It's definitely a speed-painting job, which I normally don't do, but honestly I'm adding models to an army that I started collecting in 1998. They don't need to be Golden Demon quality to stand out as some of the better looking figs in the army ;-) In an effort to rehabilitate the army, I want to paint up a few extra characters, Crossbowmen, and finish up some Ogres and Cavalry to make the army a lot more fun to play with.

The pic posted here isn't the best, I didn't take it in my usual spot using multiple lamps and whatnot. The desk where I do my proper photography is covered in books and junk right now, so this one was done with just overhead lighting. I'll take better pics of the unit when they're all done... which really could be as soon as the weekend. These guys will take a tiny amount of time compared to what I'm used to. Hooray for mostly drybrushed metallics, Foundation paints and the new Citadel Washes!
