Obscuras Daemons - Warhammer 40k Army List

I know that this Blog is under Painting/Modelling, however I am going to go off-topic again just to add in my current 1,500 point army list for 40k. As I have a terrible memory, I like to have everything written down and the rules set out after my army list, for that time I get Aura of Acquiescence mixed up with Transfixing Gaze (like the last time I played :P) or can't remember what Furious Charge does again.

Warning: This is long.

The To Do List

Partly for my own reference, and for anyone who reads this to look forward to, a short list of things that I need to finish doing on my Obscuras Daemons army. I will write up a similar list for Wood Eldar sometime. The side-projects can go hang until I get really bored :D.

  • Get the last few models that I need for my army: 1 Screamer, 1 Seeker of Slaanesh and 2 Horrors.

Funnily enough, I managed to get a single Seeker, who have been as rare as gold recently (and going at similar prices), and a blister pack of old Horrors (so I can buy three and have 1 extra, instead of buying a whole pack and having loads extra) is on eBay, waiting for me to snap it up. It's the Screamer I've been having huge problems with. I can't seem to find any blister packs for a Screamer. As I already have four and want a fifth for my army, this is annoying me. I've put it as a Saved Search on eBay, so here's fingers crossed....

Shadow, ice, darkness, fear. I took the general theme of choosing three colours for your army, a base, a complement and an accent. I chose black as my base (obviously), white as the complement, and blue as my accent. Silver was favoured for metallic over golds to keep the colour scheme as cool as possible.

For the generic warriors of Obscuras, I chose Horrors as the base and for the rules. I filled in the gaping mouth with green stuff and then drilled a hole into the top of their "head", before affixing a dryad head onto the model. More green stuff was used to give the dryad a neck and base of the skull. The model was painted black, then drybrushed grey. It's eyes were painted bright blue, with white freehand tribal markings across its face. It's horns were painstaking blended from black to white at the tips of its horns and its claws were drybrushed a dark silver. It was finished with a gloss coat of varnish....

The Tale of Obscuras

My first army is Chaos Daemons (or Daemons/Hordes of Chaos when I played WFB). About seven years ago I found mention of a Chaos God called Obscuras on Warhammer.net. I am not sure if this has ever been canon, though statements range from it being canon in an old version of WFB, WFRP, or never been canon at all but fanmade. Regardless, I really liked the idea and I incorporated it into my army, converting my miniatures to reflect it. The background for WFB was spelt out in the article I found, however I had to come up with my own for 40k....
