There are some really great mini painters out there.  I'm not one of them.  (You have to know your limitations.)  So this blog will chronicle the thoughts of a 46 year old painter who needs to impove his painting skills, his photographing skills while at the same time trying to actually find enough time to actually paint given his busy schedule singing and in the Knights of Columbus.  I'm supposed to be painting because it's FUN!  Are you having fun?

  1. More base coats of paint

    Progress.  I've added a few more base colors for the clothes and the weapons.  Selected three of the ten for the BLING photo shot.
  2. Day 2 - feathers - beak, feet - wild yellow hair

    This is a test to see how my photos with BLING work here! The feathers are painted an offwhite - with later highlights in pure white.  Bill and feet are painted in a very old paint called "create a finish."  The wild feather hair is done in bad moon yellow.
  3. WIP Runequest Ducks

    They are primed black and placed on bases and ready for painting.  I'll probably sart off with the white feathers, go to the orange beaks and then work on the yellow moon "hair."
  4. The Gen Con Report

    Even though I’ve been playing role playing games off and on since my college days in the 1980’s I have only been regularly attending Gen Con in Indianapolis for the past few years.  Even then I’m mostly interested in two things; various train games put out by Mayfair games and interesting classes on the subject of minis.This year I attended a class on photographing minis.  I had already purchased a diffuser box, but the class helped me understand some of the finer elements ...
