The purple (more like a violet) was created by simple layering of one over the other. You apply the first wash (blue) and after it dries you apply the other (red) over it.

My set of washes arrived in the post yesterday. I have a few models that need painting up. I'll give them a go using some of these.

I think they might regret discontinuing all their inks, which are much more useful for careful/advanced techniques, but this is really astounding for speed painters. I expect to see a lot of cheap painted armies popping up on eBay in the coming months.

With a tiny bit more work you could really make these models shine, just use a different basecoat for subtle variations in texture/material. Done!

    Thanks for the pic.

Thanks! That really helps clear things up. A few months ago there was a marked improvement in the "old" primer, and now there's a new one altogether.

I looked at one of my really ancient empty cans and noticed a disturbing trend... 285g became 280g and is now 278g. I want my 3% more primer dammit ;-) Anyway I'll be testing out the new stuff fairly soon, I'm running low again and have a few dozen models to prime.

    Yes, they dry matte.

For TT quality they look fantastic. Do they dry totally matte?

That's cool! it's like selective dipping almost. :)

    looks good.

You are welcome! :) The weight difference could be due to solvent/propelant then the paint itself.
This thing dries within 5-10 seconds.

Could you post a pic of the old and new cans maybe so we can tell them apart? A recent batch of GW undercoat seemed to dry faster than I was expecting, but not "instantaneously" like you say. I hate waiting for paint to dry, so this could be good news :-D

I *love* how you've done the black trench coat - it really looks like leather! I've been experimenting with all sorts of methods of painting back to achieve this sort of look, and you've done it perfectly. Thanks for the inspiration, I hope you don't mind if I use it!

Hmm, I tried. Now, I actually see where it is still green.. Things you notice under high magnification and bright light, I will fix it.

Very sin-city and looks good, but shame you didn't do the grass too :P
    (Or just left it out)

That's possible, but then one has to think how far we could find ourselves with definitions like this. Let's define life as highly organized multicellular structures capable of sophisticated manipulatory activities capable of using tools. It is no better and no less artificial than defining life based on the number of cells in a organism.
  20. sven's Avatar
Well. it could be a definition... :D

I became interested as i don't remember the different definitions of life since my biology classes. Then I came across the wikipedia article:

    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Life

lol look at the picture to the right. Apparently that's life. Probably taken from its photo album. Wonder where else life has been. I would want to meet it one day.
