  1. Dig Deep Marine!

Gaah! Just had one of those paint session that completely fails to satisfy...you know the one? Just couldn't get my eye to focus in and my brain to engage with what I was doing. Essentially I was suffering a sort of Brechtian Alienation from the Scout Squad I was painting.

Now, as much as I like the miniatures, the ones with the cloaks and sniper rifles, they were picked more out of a sense of requiring an additional cheap troop choice for my DA army. So the squad, born out of necessity ...
  2. Getting the Shakes

Right, well I've been away from the paints for over a week now and the withdrawal has been dreadful.

I've been in holiday, that thing where you go away and have to have a good time. LIke it or not. I couldn't take my mini's and gear with me so I've just had to withdraw. I took a sci-fi book with me from the Heresey series and as I'm painting Dark Angels it had to be "Descent of Angels". This has duely inspired me, but my anxiety has got so bad recently my shakes are almost uncontrollable. ...
  3. Information Overload...

Okay, so I'm pushing on trying to improve.

I'm pretty sure that my most recent mini I've posted is my best yet, but I just can't get my cameraphone to translate the way the eye does.

I did what I reckon most of us do, and started research. Now the problem I've got is I probably know too much! At least enough to know I haven't got a clue.

This took me back to a conversation I had with my step dad. It was about developing in art, how the only way, in his opinion, ...
  4. Nostalgia...it's not like it used to be!

I've been posting some updated mini's, I find it helpful to respond to the score I'm getting as a way of improving the minatures. IT tells me if I'm going forward in the right direction.

But if there's one thing I know you can't move forward with out checking your mirrors...right? (okay okay cheesey I know).

So I've indulged myself in some Nostalgia. I have an album on my computer of models and minatures from the past few years as I have gradually been able to commit more ...

  6. Starting Again

There's somthing strangely therapeutic about starting again.

When your brush chucks a hair out of place and smears paint across the edge you were highlighting.

    Well....

You just have to start again!

I've just started again, like this blog from that ancient awkward entry back in May 2012 and in my dedication to painting minatures. I don't know if I'll ever be as good as I'd aspire to be, but that's part of the fun of it.

    My friend ...
  7. Broadcast from the Bunker

    Anyone there?....

    Any survivors respond please?....

Any minature painters surviving from the maelstrom of the mid nineties? I have returned to the bunker of my memories, dusted off my skills and returned to the hobby. But believe me, my skills are rusty.

You know that moment, when the tip of your brush is approaching the tip of the shoulder pad/eye socket. It's barely loaded with skull white, ready to emphasise the sun catching on the detail of your chosen
