Best Christmas present ever!

I've been painting since about 1998, traditionally a lot of 40k stuff but lately I've been doing a lot of work with Fantasy and the odd little side project here and there. I don't game as much as I'd like, and I don't paint as much as I'd like either... but I make up for this by purchasing way more models than I ought to!

I make an effort to try new things once in a while, and every once in a while I'll actually finish something. My current project is the Warriors of Chaos, it's an attempt at doing a 2,000pt army in under 6 weeks for the Fracas tournament here in Edmonton. A $100 ticket should give me motivation to get my army done on time, I would love some tournament trophies to add to my painting awards :-) After that, who knows what I'll be up to!

New Years goodness

Hey all, I hope you all had a safe and enjoyable holiday so far. Just thought I'd give a quick update while I'm still under the blissful effects of unsafe dosages of extra strength Asparin. Got a nasty cold complete with pounding headaches, sore throat and last night I had a lovely time freezing and shivering in bed despite a massive pile of blankets once I got home from the New Years shindig.

So I probably won't be doing any more painting for a day or two, I had been making some good progress on my Wood Elves, I got the second unit of Archers and the Wardancers much closer to finished. Mostly metallic trim and the weapons to do, plus hair on half the Wardancers. Shouldn't take too long. Still need to paint my 15 Eternal Guard for the campaign some of us are starting up in a week or two. I also have to finish an Arwen model that I was painting as a Christmas present for a friend... better late than never :-)...

Wow, I've never been un-invited to Christmas dinner before. I guess I've got some free time on my hands today...

Die, xenos scum!

I hope you dirty xenos players will forgive my enthusiasm, but I played my first 40k game in months yesterday. My Salamanders took on my friend Tom's Orks, probably our last battle with the old Ork rules. The new book is out in a couple days for the advance orders.

The game was an incredibly fun one, with Tom and I exchanging heavy blows throughout. Tom and I know each other's tactics very well, and often use similar styles of army composition and maneuvers. Needless to say, we do a good job wiping each other out most of the time, with games usually ending in a draw or minor victories....

Plans Within Plans

I know I said I wasn't gonna post anything without pictures (and I definitely had the not posting part down pat) but the bit of work I've been able to do lately isn't exactly worth showing. Lately I've been planning some army lists a bit more, and possibly even figuring out ways that I might get a game in eventually.

So yeah very little paint being applied to models lately, but I cleaned and built a few dozen models and I've drawn up several 500 pt Wood Elf lists. I have a few friends that want to play smaller games in the New Year and this is as good a reason as any for me to finally make my Wood Elves playable. They have about everything painted except Core units right now :D The only sad part about me playing Wood Elves is that I now have to do another half dozen or so Dryad conversions... they look great (being Juan Diaz daemonettes with Dryad heads, arms etc.) but they take hours to build and longer to paint! Oh and the one prototype I have painted keeps breaking... I really need to stop dropping minis......

ME14 etc.

Just a quick post to say that I tore my room apart the other day looking for stuff that planecrazy might want for the Mini Exchange 14 thing going on in the forums. I have some pics of the collection up in the Workbench area (seemed like the best place to put them).

The first one shows the aftermath of my searching around for models to send off... it'll get put back together before too long, I have to sleep somewhere! You can see most of my unopened blisters on the mattress, along with some random bags of bitz and my disgustingly swollen and bloated box of Inquisitor models next to the Guitar Hero guitar on the chair....
