Well i've always been a big fan of Games Workshop and i started collecting their minis when i was around 11-12 years old but never really enjoyed painting them. Then after a short while i stopped collecting and went off to university and studied, but found i had more and more time as i progressed through education. In my final years of my PhD i started to pick up painting again and i've been doing it ever since, on and off. I love learning new techniques and having cool models to use. My one policy is i refuse to play with any unpainted models, hence why i play so little and paint so much now.

Looking back at my first army when i restarted collecting minis about 3-4 years ago i started with a nightlords chaos army, however, since my painting is getting better and my chance to play games has dropped i thought this would be a good time to divide my army into two and form separate armies of world eaters and thousand sons.

I am going to try and keep the armies fairly fluffy. So i might aswell work on the basic troops, i stripped the paint of a portion of my old night lords models ready to be converted and repainted, but i managed to get 22 khorne beserkers from ebay for a total of £6.40 which is a complete bargain and im so happy with that. Admittedly the models are glued in strange ways e.g. hooks on hands and skulls with chains on them on the backpacks but i can deal with all that and redo it, plus all the mold lines were there (i hate mold lines !!!! ). Anyway onto the first of many wips to come....

Well i've been busy this week painting up my charging fex and trying out a slightly different technique in the purple carapace. Both look nice but i think the first way looks a bit better than the second. Anyway im really happy with the blending and the colours all work well together. Comments and criticisms are always welcome. As it goes for one of my more major conversions im happy with it but i might try doing some more with green stuff soon. Now that the skulls i've ordered have arrived, i might work on some khorne beserkers for something different, i kinda like juggling lots of little projects. It keeps me interested in my painting.

Ok, so i spent a few days converting, cleaning and removing the mold lines and putting together 2 fexes for this monster army. Overall im happy with them and the charging one is much more dynamic than the normal ones.

Charging Fex - this was the one that took the longest to convert, i added a plate to the underbelly of the beast. Then i repositioned the legs to show it charging and put in a large pin into the base so that the foot can support the whole body. I grinded off some the ridges on the tail area and i made it straighter than a curved position. The spikes on the back was easy enough to just glue and the head took a while to do. What i did with the head was cut half of it off to fit the regenerate to it and then i added some spikes to the head.  et voila its looking good, time to get painting....

Ok day 2 of painting my first carnifex, the carapace today. Its looking pretty good but it took ages to do so much carapace in one go. So the blend i used was:

 1. Chaos Black + Liche Purple

 2. Liche Purple

 3. Liche Purple + Skull White
