  1. The dust has settled

After an unsucessful Golden Demon, I spent a week with my good friend, Influenza. On the plus side, I've now recovered and seem to have assembled a whole Space Wolves army whilst I was ill. I don't remember most of it, but luckily it all seems to be game legal by the new codex. I'll get some images of those guys up as soon as I get chance to base them. Heres a link to the Golden Demon entry for those who are interested; Around my own Space Wolf force, I will also ...

  2. Some seriously weatherd military hardware

During my recent trip to the Berkshire mountain (pictures for this will have to wait till album editing is fixed) we visited the Watervliet Arsenal in Albany. This is an active installation that has an interesting artillery museum. So, after filling some forms and getting tags we got inside. Next to the museum building there were several pieces of military hardware that was in rather worn out state. I figured ...
  3. Attempt at calligraphy

A commissioner requested to put some lettering on his inquisitorial land raider, you know basic litanies to the emperor, some chapter name and such. Being given little specifics , or rather free rein I figured I will try it all in what people know as "Gothic". To make life a bit simpler I went for the simplest version of "black letters". Here is the result.   Text is rather crude translation into Latin, I am sure people who know the language will be terrified, ...
  4. Shadow Steed: based on WoW's Death Knights

Thought I’d disappeared, did you? Well....I did. But I’m back!  With pictures! As you may or may not know, I am part of a D&D group.  One of my friend's characters is able to summon a Shadow Steed.  It's supposed to have all the color sucked out of it -- it's essentially a horse made only of shadow.  I paint minis, so he asked me to pick up a figurine for his Shadow Steed.  Although it's supposed to be all ...

  5. Blight Drone, update

Between my calligraphy project (will post on this soon) and newly emerging Space Hulk I find some time to work on the blight drone. THis is the result of one intense Saturday - finished gun and moved forward with the skin.Skin on this model is rather difficult to paint because , as will many FW models, it is highly textured.Anyway here is the result
  6. Blight Drone - painting rust

    1) Prime white
    2) Several layers of very dilute GW tin bits until you get solid coverage
    3) Then the frontal portion and sharp edges were picked up with VMC copper, blended into tin bits by series of metallic “washes” with either VMC copper or GW tin bits to get a smooth transition. Those who don’t have VMC Copper can use GW dwarf bronze.
    4) At this point the “basecoat” is done. To make it less shiny I glazed everything with VMC Smoke diluted ~ 1:3. ...
  7. Moving!

Hello,I know my update schedule is.. umm... dreadful. However, there is plenty left to do, except I am moving to Dundee early September to do a Masters there. As such, everything is packed up, and there will be no modelling or painting done until mid-to-late September. See you later!
  8. Grey Knight WIP

My attempt to do a miniature in NMM. I have never tried NMM and I am relatively new to painting. I am going to try to do a step by step progress of my work. Hopefully I cam go slow enought to show each step I have done and photograph it before I start the next step. My inspiration for my work comes from Wappellious. He and his wife are fantastic artists from the Chicago area. I have taken classes from them at Adepticon.
  9. Blight Drone WIP

I started to work on the blight drone and I hope that it will not be another year-long project. Fortunately at the moment I have no painting commitments and as usually I am willing to experiment.  Here, I figured that I don't want to make carapace traditionally nurgly pale green but rather try an unadorned and seriously corroded copper or bronze. Both have the same patter of corrosion, although copper is more spectacular. In my later entries I might post sort of tutorial of how it was ...
  10. Batch Painting...

Well, I've started mu first ever batch painting today. Before, I've always painted one mini at a time, working all the way through, getting everything done, before starting on the next one.     But today I started on the last four Rackham Orc Brutes from a box set. I painted the first three a while ago, and thought I'd try to work my way through these four, before the new blisters come from eBay. I won a blister of Orc Brutes and Törk the Animal, a few days ago. I can hardly ...
