Best Christmas present ever!

I've been painting since about 1998, traditionally a lot of 40k stuff but lately I've been doing a lot of work with Fantasy and the odd little side project here and there. I don't game as much as I'd like, and I don't paint as much as I'd like either... but I make up for this by purchasing way more models than I ought to!

I make an effort to try new things once in a while, and every once in a while I'll actually finish something. My current project is the Warriors of Chaos, it's an attempt at doing a 2,000pt army in under 6 weeks for the Fracas tournament here in Edmonton. A $100 ticket should give me motivation to get my army done on time, I would love some tournament trophies to add to my painting awards :-) After that, who knows what I'll be up to!

Last WIP shot of Master of the Fleet

Like the title says, I reckon this will be the last WIP shot of this guy. I just need to prime and paint him a backpack one of these days, and settle on a color for the hammer haft and he'll be good to go.

I don't think I'll enter him in the Golden Goblin contest, I'd rather sleep in than paint a backpack first thing in the morning. And if I enter him now, then I can't enter him in the Golden Demon qualifier rounds later this year... I'm not sure if I'm going yet and I don't want to screw up my backup plan :-)

I got lazy and started doing the metallics with less mixing than before. I used Black + Boltgun as the base, washed with Black Ink then Flesh Wash, then hilighted up to Chainmail and did a faint glaze of more Flesh Wash. Looks exactly the same as when I was using Clear Orange, Brown Ink, and all that other garbage. I think using much darker silver than the standard Boltgun/Chainmail/Mithril scheme was the key, not so much the inks.
