Best Christmas present ever!

I've been painting since about 1998, traditionally a lot of 40k stuff but lately I've been doing a lot of work with Fantasy and the odd little side project here and there. I don't game as much as I'd like, and I don't paint as much as I'd like either... but I make up for this by purchasing way more models than I ought to!

I make an effort to try new things once in a while, and every once in a while I'll actually finish something. My current project is the Warriors of Chaos, it's an attempt at doing a 2,000pt army in under 6 weeks for the Fracas tournament here in Edmonton. A $100 ticket should give me motivation to get my army done on time, I would love some tournament trophies to add to my painting awards :-) After that, who knows what I'll be up to!

Master of the Fleet finally finished!

Woohoo, finally finished! He's now known as Agrippa, Captain of IV Company and Master of the Fleet. His shin guard says "Classis" on it, which is Latin for fleet. Can't see it so good in the pics. You can vote for him here.

Overall I'm really happy with him, with the exception of the freehand. The lettering didn't turn out as well as I had hoped, but then I was fighting with a new 000 brush, it had one hair too long and it was cocking it all up good. Had to trim the one hair with an Xacto blade without cutting any other ones... wow is that ever a test of the fine motor skills! Name scrolls with the big notches in them piss me off too, some letters get cut off. I think from now on I'm gonna have to greenstuff in the notches to make my life 10x easier.

You should be happy with him, indeed. Very nice! I particularly like the variety and depth in the shades of greens used. As far as constructive criticism goes, I'd say the handle wrap on the hammer could use a light dusting to bring the texture out a little more, and I the same for the base maybe. Nothing extreme, but the concrete along the side and rear looks just a touch too monocromatic for my taste. Great work over all. :)
