Best Christmas present ever!

I've been painting since about 1998, traditionally a lot of 40k stuff but lately I've been doing a lot of work with Fantasy and the odd little side project here and there. I don't game as much as I'd like, and I don't paint as much as I'd like either... but I make up for this by purchasing way more models than I ought to!

I make an effort to try new things once in a while, and every once in a while I'll actually finish something. My current project is the Warriors of Chaos, it's an attempt at doing a 2,000pt army in under 6 weeks for the Fracas tournament here in Edmonton. A $100 ticket should give me motivation to get my army done on time, I would love some tournament trophies to add to my painting awards :-) After that, who knows what I'll be up to!

I hate drill bits, but I love Sisters of Battle

Yep, I've broken 5 bloody drill bits in about 10 days I reckon. I've pretty much reduced myself to a handful of drill bits the width of a human hair, and another handful that are way too big to be useful. Lovely huh? Oh, and I've got several throbbing puncture wounds in my left hand as well. The last one dug in about 8mm I would imagine. I do have a pic to show off though, my alt color scheme Canoness. The HQ will have the all-metal look to them, and if I get super lazy then all the rank and file will get this color scheme as well. It'll take a fraction of the time if I do it that way.

The damnable shine of P3 paints makes the cloak look like ass, but it's really quite nice and subtle in person. It's a blend of black, brown and Coal Black, mixed up to pure Coal Black and then a final sparse bit of hilighting with a bit of Bone mixed in. I think it'll do for black leather on my army.

Good colors, not so sure about her face, looks kinda "thick" and somewhat "out of focus". Not sure how it could be with the rest of the mini in clearly in focus. I actually kinda like this cloak. I saw yesterday a person in a real black velvet robe; graduation time, all old faculty put on their $1000 robes. Well, it reflects almost like metal with many almost white highlights and a lot of shine.

Heh, well the face isn't finished, I mixed up a basecoat that I liked and my friend Tom promptly kicked me out of his basement so he could get some sleep. It still needs all the hilights and shades, plus the eyes, mouth, etc. You're probably right about robes (or leather) reflecting a lof of light though. I just hate how much shine I get with WIP shots using P3 paints. Makes it harder to see the color underneath.
