Hi guys! My name is Mario.
I'm making a 75mm miniature and I wanted to share my journey with you. It is not common that we know all the work that creating a miniature takes, and I would love to have a small line of minis so, I thought that it would make one and share my experience here. I've been for about a month now contacting artists, 3D sculptors and production companies in order to get familiar with the process and in order to get a budget.
A simplified list of the stepts would be:
- Choose a concept art.
- Talk with the concept artist and negotiate copyrights.
- Hire a 3D artist to make a printable 3D model out of the concept.
- Print it.
- Make copies.
I have set aside some money for the first 4 steps. Leaving the 5th one to a kickstarter so everyone that wants a copy can pitch in. If its not successful, I'll have at least a very expensive mini that i'll love :P, if it is, I might repeat the process
The whole thing should take between 6 months and a year. I'll be posting updates here as things happen.
Now for the first step, I've created a pretty big list of concepts I like. Here are the top 4 in preference order:
1- Mutant: Mechatron cover
2- Betty and Connor
3- Tellurion
4- Cosmonaut
I'll start next week to contact the owners of those works. Meanwhile it would be great to get some feedback. Also if you want, send me your email and I'll add it to a mail list where I'll send important updates.
Do you like the picked art? Like the idea? Wanna leave any feedback?
