Squad 1 of my Ultramarines personal army is COMPLETE!!

Wow!  Finally finished a full 10 man squad from my personal army.  Thought I had this "speed painting" thing down, but I still ended up taking a bit more time on details and stuff.  Ah well, I'll have a good army and it makes for good marketing when I play in tournaments.

Finished up the rest of tactical squad 1.  Here is a group shot of the second half.

My Ultramarines. First squad is done.

I have finished half of my first squad.  I have also chosen to collect the second company of the Ultramarines.  I tried to free-hand the squad markings, wasn't real happy with the results and attempted to apply the decals instead.  These models are the first time I have ever tried using decals.  I am EXTREMELY happy with the way they turned out.  I also attempted some minor weathering around the feet.  I am happy with those results as well.  The Ultramarine symbol is a decal, the tactical marking is free hand.  From here on out I am using decals!  So, next up are the other 5 marines from the squad, including a sargent with power fist.  As always, C & C are always welcome!!http://www.parvusmachina.com/miniatures/wips/sog/squad1pt1.jpg...

The first of many squads painted

Anyways, on to the real topic of this thread. Some more marine pictures!! I figured out a nice, speedy method for painting my Ultras consisting of drybrushing (something I hardly EVER did in the past), and inks (no I haven't tried the new GW inks, I will once they figure out how to make a decent spraygun!) Overall I really like the look this gives the marines. I am in the middle of reading the Horus Heresy books and the description of the power armor was stuck in my head while painting these guys. The whole ceramic/ceramite/polish etc. adjectives kept ringing in my head. I think these guys look pretty ceramic and polished. I only have their armor done, not sure what company they are going to be yet. Everything that is black has yet to be painted. The paint job is shinier than I like because of my use of the old school inks. ONce they are fully painted I plan on spraying them with dullcote. C &C always welcome!...

Some more Ultramarines (formerly Sons of Guilliman)

Wow it's been over 2 monthes since I last updated this blog! Things have been really nuts around here, I have been building like a fiend and have finally gotten around to taking pics!! (not much painted yet)

A few notes before I start the piccy goodness.

1) I have decided to go with a straight Ultramarine paint scheme for 2 reasons, time and money.

Time: Because I am going back to school, my time has become even MORE scarce. I know I can crank out a decent blue scheme in no time. White is a major PAIN!

The Forgotten of Menoth! With alternate color scheme
(0) comments,   (0) trackbacks

When I first got into Warmachine, I was talked into playing Menoth because that was the only faction left that wasn't being played in the league I joined.  After checking out the color scheme, I decided that I wanted to go in a completly different direction (plus my white and red -fu were WAY off at that time).  So I came up with an alternate color scheme.  After playing it a few times, some of the other guys in the league commented on how dark and sinister the new color scheme was, which got me to thinking about a little fluff for this arm of Menoth.  Seeing as how the Menoth faction is primarily desert based, I thought it would be cool to have a group that is isolated and "forgotten" by Menoth and his followers in the middle of the desert.  I also wanted the jacks to have a very "heavy" metal look to them so I went with all metallics and Tamiya smoke (that stuff is the BOMB!).  After awhile I stopped playing and painting Warmachine.  I recently dug these out of storage and am putting them on new, themed bases.  Once this project is complete I will be putting these models, a unit of unassembled unpainted temple guard, Menoth faction cards, rule books and special Warmachine templates from GF9 all on eBay....
