Oh boy, another project!

So I haven't worked on the Uren Knights since last week's blog.  I did get them primed though.  However, I have recently decided that "painting minis isnt good enough, I want more!"  More of what? you say?

Well, it isnt good enough that I paint minis, but now I want to PLAY with them.

Now I know what you are thinking... "But Keith, you barely have time to paint minis, update your blog, update your website, solve America's social problems, and make dinner!"...

Howdy!

Yes you read it correctly a WIP!  My first EVER.  This is a parvusmachina blog exclusive!  No where else will you see this, not even on my own site!

Anyways, so I am currently working on a commission of three Khor knights of Uren.  They minis came out of the box with minimal mould lines (impressive!).  How ever, one of the boars had mis-cast tusks!  No problem, I thought to myself, I've got plenty of bits and I am sure I have something suitable I put in place of the deformed tusks.  Sure enough!   I had a chaos champion head with horns on the helm that I thought would look pretty cool on the boar.  Below are some pics of what they looked like when in place....

Ok, I know I know.  Where are all the "updates"?  Well, now that the holiday blitz is over, I have worked out a schedule of when I hope to work in my studio (which is in the basement of my house so I may often refer to it as "working downstairs").  After I take my kids to school in the morning I hope to spend at LEAST the next 3 hours working on minis.  This may not be everyday, but it is a start!  Instead of jumping right into a commission piece after such a long lay off, I plan on goofing around with one of the minis I got from ME14, not sure which one yet, just something to "train" on.  Below is a picture of what I will choose from, right now I am leaning towards #1 (some weird rubbery/plastic figures) or #6(some small dragon hatchlings)....

All right, here we go.  Thanks again for stopping by and checking out my blog.  A little about myself.  My real name is Keith.  I have been painting minis (on an off) for about 17 years, of which I have really focused on it over the last 4 years.  I work in the IT department for a large manufacturer of marine engines in Wisconsin.  I haven't painted a mini in over 7 months due to some changes in my job.  Usually I paint during the winter only as I prefer to spend my free summer time outside with my kids.  In the past painting time for me has been VERY limited.  I used to be able to only devote time to competition pieces which left little extra time for commissions or personal projects.  Going forward, things look ALOT better.  I will have 3 days a week to devote to painting.  I have a HUGE "to-do" list of minis that I want to get started on, and I hope to use this blog to track my progress.  First project is a commission piece of 3 Mounted knights of Uren from Rackham.  I have the models cleaned of flash and mould (sp?) lines and one is assembled.  I am stuck on replacing the tusks of the boar (one was broken and the other looked mis-cast).  I  may have to resort to sculpting my own tusks as my spikey bitz box isnt yielding what I have in mind....
