NYC Demon in the city - post factum [03/01 10:23AM]

Since I was unable to attend all I have are rumors and what remained on display on January, 2nd in GW store at 8th street in Manhattan.

My general feeling is that the organizational gaffes I was complaining about too weeks ago had exactly the predicted effect. There were about 45 entries (120 last year) with only 1 of them that came from outside an immediate store service area. Unfortunately I didn’t have a camera with me so I don’t have pictures. I might try to visit the place once more though if I have time.

There were several great minies including sculpted 54 mm inquisitor that took 1st place in the open category and very cute scene of 4 guys from some imperial sprue locked in a drunken brawl. I also liked the Slaanesh lord with a slave girl, although in this case the girl was painted much better then the lord that pushed this mini down from the 1 st place in the 40k single category.

There were several very well executed orks. I am not sure how they placed since organizers didn’t make any labels but, I would assume they should be pretty high, and finally there was a snowy-painted baneblade, that I think took a second place in the Open category.

Another painting competition will be held soon as a part of the Iron Halo event. I will post more details as soon as I have them (likely on Sunday)
