I am Yurii Chinenov, aka Skeeve, 35, molecular biologists/biochemists by trade (for now). Currently in New York City and probably will remain. I am painting for about 2-4 years - don't remember for how long. I paint often (pretty much every Saturday) in or around Game Workshop hobby center on Austin street, so, if you are around stop by and say Hi
1) Everything was primed black and basecoated with Vallejo scurf green. then several areas (headdress, sword and eyes) that will have brighter colors eventually were overbrushed with 50/50 mix of stonewall gray/ skull white.
2) at this point I painted eyes with 75/25 mix of light green and scurf green and started to build up light effect with the same mix by applying it to the most protruding points on the helmet
3) Continue doing the same but with pure light green. Eyes are fully covered with light green. Depending on overall contrast later on I may leave OSL as is and just make eyes brighter.
4) Several layers of highlights were added. Some freehand on the breatsplate as well
Almost done. Some embelishments, gems and general clean up and the base are stil needed but the look an feel will remain as is. The "dark eldarishness" of this mini is intententional.
This lady was a prototype of my green banshees that made a honorable mention in 40K squad category in Baltimore this year
The squad is finished but the base was just primed with the roughcoat primers from GW
And the base alone. The exach in the middle just for the scale
And this is how it supposed to look all together :) Just a small wallpaper for my notebook
