Ohhhh.. ohh, i want these! very nice colors! I definately have to try the gold over yellow thing on my next batch of chaos warriors.
I like his staff, it's like it's got an orrery (model of the solar system) on the end. It reminds me of that giant thing in "The Dark Crystal", in Audra's laboratory.
What's the recipe for your skin? I've been trying a few different kinds using bases.
I will definitely be adding some updates later on today, I have some pics from the last few painting sessions to upload. Hopefully I'll get my uni readings done this afternoon and come close to finishing the Knights tonight, they're really close :-)
The new ones are all right I suppose, but I don't like the mouths very much. I've also heard they have some big gaps in them, which I was not looking forward to. With all this in mind I stripped my old ones and repainted them to match the new army. Honestly I think they might've looked a little better before, but the bases especially were extremely different from the snowy Chaos Wastes look I wanted so they really needed a change.
Sorry, I forgot to list the leather. I mixed Liche Purple and P3 Gun Corps Brown for the basecoat, washed with Devlan Mud, Badab Black, Leviathan Purple, and a bit of Asurmen Blue. The hilights were Tanned Flesh.
The metallics were pretty complicated compared to the rest. I used Devlan Mud over Chainmail mostly, followed a mix of Devlan Mud and Asurmen Blue, and some random washes of stuff like purple, green etc. wherever I felt like it. Every couple of layers I would feather on an edge hilight with the Chainmail. Re: the skin, it's proving hard to get an accurate photograph. It's a mix of Tallarn Flash, Underbelly Blue and Hammerfall Khaki, with subtle washes of Purple mixed with Ogryn Flesh. It actually looks pretty good in person, but the slight shine of the model is making it really hard to get an accurate shot. He might get a subtle wash later as I tweak the method. The flesh will also be fancied up with a bit of tattoos at some point... once I figure out exactly how I'm going to do them. Freehand is not my forte, and I need to come up with designs that will look good and be doable on half the models (about 15 including the Cavalry). Thanks for the interest, I'll be trying to get a lot of work done this week before I have to go back to university. Should hopefully have the regiment of Marauders plus maybe some cavalry done in the next few days, I really want to get off on the right foot with this project.
The page that introduces Chaos Magic states that Sorcerors may use Chaos Armor and Magical shields despite the normal caster rules. They really should have made this more clear, but it's in the book.
If you take it to a tournament you'll find you can't put a shield on a sorceror. There is no shield option in the equipment options, and no ordinary shield means no magical shield either. I like the work you've done on the chosen - will look very cool. Take them in units of 10, then they are cheaper than the knights. They won't need the rank bonus!!
Glad you're liking the conversions so far. I tweaked the Sorc a bit since this photo was taken, and the magnetic shield/magic staff are almost done. Both need a bit of work before I call them done.
It's good to be back :-) Next semester will be my last, and it's only part-time. 2 classes and I've got my shiny $25k piece of paper!
No, really, you got get your priorities straight. Being sidetrack by some University, shame on you :) Welcome back!
Congratulations on your demons!
For the base I grabbed a chunk of sprue with a 30 degree bend in it, and glued it down. Covered it with a ton of greenstuff, and embedded a chopped in half heavy bolter sponson in the dirt. The model was pinned through the entire base once things cured a bit.
have you used the gorkamorka base, and then a normal round base??
Where did he come from? Great painting. Good luck!
Yes, it is. Good luck! Take some pictures if you can
From tactical standpoint the smallest 40K squad known to man (or at least to me) would be eldar rangers. The minimum size is... yes, three. An entry that would really piss me as far as completion goes but perfectly legal nonetheless :)
I don't use many of them, they do taste funny. They make your lips/tongue numb after a while as well, which is NOT cool. P3's are pretty decent tasting though, not as good as classic Citadel but nothing beats the vintage stock.
I hope you don't use Foundation paints - they taste awful :)
