All this and more (well, not realy that much more at the moment!) over at my new blog, which actually works as expected.
I'm getting back at this painting biz a little bit more now and again.
It was pointed out to me today when I shared the final pictures of the Taco General Staff that I had in fact failed rather stunningly in my limited research into the correct uniform colors. Aparently all bicornes and the like were black in the French army. A cusory look around the web confirms this. . .not sure how I missed it before. But whats more, how did the people I shared the work in progress with miss it as well? I expect more from my readership! Yes thats right, the both of ...
I know, I know, I'm supposed to be working on the elf. I've been a complete spaz since we've moved and haven't really settled into a consistent project groove yet. I started these French staff officers before the move, and I just realized I was really almost done with them, so why not finish them off. The chance to have something completed was too strong, I had to take it. Now all I need is for the putty to dry, and they'll be on their way out the door shortly there after.
Costochondritis is pretty much destroying my productivity of late. . . and driving me f'ing nuts. I managed to get a little work done on the stag though, and have the rider ready to go too.
I wasn't sure how the fur and hide pallette was going to come together, but I'm happy with how this is working out. I'm managing to find good contrasts while still keeping the overall effect very muted and staying away from highlighting to white which would be absurd here.
I'm doing this conversion for a friend's wood elf lord. The figure he wants mounted on it is a bit big on the backend- sculpted to fit a taller/wider mount, so his flowing robes etc would leave a couple glaring millimeters space twixt his cape and his mount. So, this stag gets filled out with taller fur, and a section of saddle to make up the difference. The elf lord will be GW. The stag is from Chronopia.
The funnest part of zombies is almost always the goreification. I was pretty happy with the way the camo and body armour came out on these, so there was a brief moment of sadness as it got all goopy, but it was short lived.
Finally got my order in from Litko- 200 bases for about 22$. Not bad. I don't think I'd put nice character pieces on them, since the rounds aren't round, but show the segemented cuts, but for massed troops, square and round are find, and a good price. I'd been waiting for the delivery to base up these zombies, which are bound for a demo game @ Salute. Any color suggestions for the bugged out zombie eyes?
Zombie stoner #2, done for a friend of mine.
