Building a True Scale Deathwatch Army

My day by day struggles to build a True Scale Deathwatch Army. I'll do my best to do some work and update every day. I was hoping to have them done by the 24th of August but I think I'll be painting them right up to the night before the Orktoberfest tournament.

Anyway I hope you enjoy.
Please feel free to leave any comments questions and criticism and I'll be sure to reply.

  1. Day 28 to 31 - The one month mark...

Sorry for not posting regularly lately, I've either been busy or finished so late I had to go strait to bed as opposed to write this blog (like last nights 2am bed time...).

I've been doing a few things lately, one of which is I finally got some robes on my Dark Angels Marine! I think they've turned out pretty good though I still need to put a rope around his waist so they aren't quite finished just yet.

  2. Day 27 - Details on the torso's

Tonight I worked on the stomach details, I think they look pretty good. There are some I'll add a little more detail tomorrow when it's fully cured but all in all the base of what they'll all look like is there. Getting close to finishing them now...

  3. Day 26 - Start of the stomach's

So I was home sick today and managed to get a bit done between naps, I pretty much concentrated on the stomach area. When creating the stomach it's best to do a smooth bottom layer before adding the details like cables ect. This is what I've done today... And I've managed to get the belt and stomach on my Space Wolf model so he's caught up to the rest of them. =D

  4. Day 25 - Belts, backpacks and more!

Today was a good day, my daughter and my girlfriend went out all day and I got stuck in! First on my list was the belts for my Marines, followed by finishing off the backpacks (Completely this time), and even managed to figure out what to do with the staff I was building. All in all, I'm rather pleased with myself. =D

    Now for some pics!

For the belts I just rolled out some greenstuff into a long thin tube and wrapped it around the waist, then I applied light pressure ...
  5. Day 15 - Getting Backpacks Finished

Tonight I've been trying to finish off the backpacks, once again I didn't get as much as I would of liked due to working late, but I've only got one left to go and the heavy bolter backpack is half way finished. Then I just need to tidy them up with greenstuff and add some personality and the backpacks will be done. I've cut the heavy bolter backpack down the centre and made a mould of one of the front sides and filled it with greenstuff so it should be ready for tomorrow after footy training, I'm ...
  6. Day 10 - Torso gaps all done.

All except for one anyway... The Custom Marine is proving slightly more difficult than the rest, I've had to fill the gap to just below the surface and when that has hardened tomorrow I'll go over it again and finish it off. I'm sculpting the collar up higher on the sides so it looks like a full ring around his head. I found a picture today that has given me inspirations for how I want him to look... Naturally it wont look much like this picture, but I'll likely take parts from it and incorporate ...
  7. Day 9 - Filling gaps in the side of the torso.

So yesterday we separated all the torso's, today I started filling the gap in the sides. I've only done one side to each torso today as I have a bad habit of putting my finger in wet green-stuff... As a rule of thumb you should really let one part harden before moving onto the next part. There is nothing worse than marking your work after you spent so long getting it 'just right'.

Anyway, here is a couple of pics, it looks messy but will finish up much nicer than it looks. You wont ...
  8. Day Seven - Confusion

So I sat down tonight after football, looked at my finished legs and looked to all my bits and pieces I had been planning on using for each of them and suddenly felt very confused. I had no idea what I wanted to go where or even where to begin. I though about just starting on the backpacks or chests but then I thought to myself, that if I just start generically converting all these different parts with no focus on what I want it to be I'm going to be getting generic marines and try to make them ...
