Post 5: Painting and assembling the flyer

I undecorated the wings black and the chassis/cockpit cover whatever you would call it white.
I then used a sepia
wash in an air gun to create nice blend of colour on the white section. The wash used was thinned down and applied sparingly so that the overall effect was a bone colour. I then used a less thinned wash to create a colour gradient, getting darker to the outer sections.

I used white oil paint to get into the recesses of the wings. The reason for this was that I could easily wipe away any white paint that got onto the area's I wished to be black. Once dry, a day or two later, I used some thin washes of yellow blending to green in the recesses.

A few other sections were easier to paint before assembly.

And the end result, is an interesting base that the model can easily slide on and off of.
I have kept the standard base that comes with the model, because if gaming on an uneven surface, this base will not balance well on an incline. So just in case I would take the standard base with me. Also, when playing competitive games, some people may have an issue with the increased hight of the model on my stand.
