Working with Fanatic Army Painter/ Quick Shade

Rate this Entry

I've done recently some experiments with the Fanatic Army Painter (now it's called Quick shade for some reasons) and I'm pretty happy with the results.

I never really understood how shading using inks works (my miniatures used to look just very dirty) but I'm having no problems with the FAP since I need just to dip the miniature.

The Empire and Dwarven miniatures in the galleries just uploaded are an example of what you can do with the FAP, the colors (all GW) I used were:

  • Skull white primer
  • The red stuff is Blod Red
  • The leather is painted with Bestial Brown
  • The blue stuff is Regal Blue
  • The skin is Dwarven Flesh
  • Metal is Mithril Silver
  • The Bronze is Dwarven Bronze
  • The beards of the Dwarves are done with different colors Bleached Bone, fortress gray and Skull white (also some dark color maybe Dark Flesh)
  • After that dip everything onto the FAP Medium Shade

As far i understood it's possible to have better results using reddish or brownish colors, just check the robe of the warrior priest!

I still have to clear a little bit the minis and finish the bases
